Viking Film is the Amsterdam based film production company founded in 2011 by Marleen Slot. International in scope, Viking Film wants to make high-quality films for both Dutch and international audiences with a special focus on artistic genre films, children’s and family films and animation films. Viking Film’s basic principle is to work with young as well as established talented directors, screenwriters and crews. Viking Film wants to be cross-border and intends to enter into cooperation with producers and makers from Europe, Latin America and Asia.

At this moment Viking Film is producting two films. The short animation film AS BOYS GROW (Charlotte van Otterloo) and the co-production LEONES by the Argentine director Jazmin Lopez. Both films are being made in cooperation with Lemming Film, the company Marleen worked for as a producer for years.

Her productions at Lemming Film include the feature films TONY 10 (Mischa Kamp, release February 2012), TAKING CHANCES (Nicole van Kilsdonk, opening film Cinekid 2011, selected for Berlinale K+ 2012), OXYGEN (Hans van Nuffel, European Film Academy Discovery Award), MY JOY (Sergei Loznitsa, competition Cannes Film Festival 2010) and VIVAN LAS ANTIPODAS! (Victor Kossakovsky, opening film Venice Film Festival 2011).

Marleen studied Communication Studies at the University of Amsterdam and specialised in Media Entertainment. In 2007 she attended the EAVE producer’s training: MEDIA’s training programme aimed at international co-productions. In 2009 she participated in ACE, a workshop and network for European producers. Besides this, she was president of the NFTVM (Association of New Film and Television Makers) from 2008 until 2010 and presently she is a member of the Board of ACE.
